Yellow Dots

Hi all!
With all the dot mania going on, I was inspired to do this girl in my journal-the paper quality is "meh" but my goal is to fill this journal so I went for it using only my cheapie liquid acrylic paints and my new love, the Sharpie pen!  She's not done as I always struggle with skin color but hear ya go anyways

Friday Tutorial: Steampunk Inspired Tag

Hi Everyone!
Today's tutorial is a Steampunk inspired tag using some cool metal pieces from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.

Start with a #8 black tag and wings cut from lightweight chipboard or heavyweight cardstock.  I used a cracker box and the Tim Holtz wing die.  You can easily free hand cut the wings yourself as well.

Choose two or three metallic acrylic paint colors for your tags background.  Sponge the paints on randomly.  Once the paint is dry, spray different colors of spray onto a craft mat or wax paper.  She your tag and smoosh it all around in the spray ink.   Dry the tag with a heat gun or set aside to dry.   Repeat the same steps with your wings.

Once your tag and set of wings are dry, glue the wings to the tag.  I chose to have my wings raised in flight, coming slightly off the tag base.  The fun part was choosing which of Miriam's Crafting Supplies  metals to add as my focus piece.  Place your metal piece just at the point where your wings join, sponge lightly with the same acrylic paint colors as your tag.  Use a few more pieces of Miriam's metals on your tag in any pattern you choose.  Finish off your tag with a stamped sentiment, cut it out and ink or paint it.  Glue the sentiment down using a strong glue stick or Glossy Accents.

Tip: for a sturdier tag, glue your finished tag to another #8 tag or cut a 2nd tag from chipboard.  That way if you choose to display your tag, it will stand better

Please Meet Lady Pink

Hi Everyone!

Long time no blog, I know!  This month the DT over at Miriam's Crafting Supplies are doing pink projects in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I made this beautiful dress form that I've named Lady Pink!

She is approximately 13 inches tall, paper mâché and embellished with Miriam's awesome supplies.  some of her features include hand painting, glimmer spray, artist mulberry paper flowers and lots of love. Lady Pink along with items made by the DT will be auctioned off by Miriam.  After all the pics I will post info on how you can bid on this original piece of art.

Please follow this link to join in the Shades of Pink Challenge over at Miriam's Crafting Blog .  If you can't join the challenge or bid please do tell your friends, the proceeds go to a great cause.  Thank you so much for stopping by,  I'm honored to be part of a great event!
